Those running the Lowrance HDS 5 what are you powering it with ? 7 amp hour only provided 2 to 2.5 hours. Thanks in advance.

14 aH lithium phosphate. Worth the coin. 2 consecutive 12 hour days not a problem.

How big a battery is that ? The one West Marine suggested was 15 lbs. And 145.00 bucks. Putting it in a Revolution 13. Thanks.

It's not too big, the lithium phosphate battery will be much lighter than 15 pounds.
Can't seem to find the 14, but this is the 12.

Even that 12 would be a great improvement from your 7 that I'm guess is a sealed lead acid.

Thanks Brandon, a bit pricey but it looks good. Specs seem to indicate similar in weight and size to the gel sealed I am using now. That would be cheap if I was looking at it in terms of a rod or reel. Looks like what I need. Thanks again !

I have that same Bioenno battery, I've gone just shy of 15hrs straight on that battery and it never failed. Yes, its a bit pricey but its worth every cent

Lithium polymer batteries are generally smaller, and just as light. I'm talking something like the batteries made by Antigravity; they are not the only company making them. But keep in mind, with all batteries, if they short, like salt water exposure will do, they discharge. This rapid discharge creates heat. With lithium based batteries, it can create a tremendous amount of heat.

here is the lithium ion battery I use. Like everyone has said, well worth the cost.

I used to use the usual lead-acid or marine grade batteries, but they were pretty heavy. I'm sure the LiPo batteries are much lighter as well.
Though, I'd recommend getting one of these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DVB7F0S?psc=1.

And plop that in one of those Plano boxes.

This is pretty much what I have. It's a 15Ah battery, that's very small and lightweight. Lasts multiple days as well. Drilled a hole for the cable output, and gooped it for a watertight seal.

Do you use the DC output?

Do you use the DC output?
Correct, it has a DC output of 12V, which is the one I use.

very interesting, and you are powering your GPS with this I presume. Did you splice the DC power cable ?

Yup, I power a Dragonfly 5.7" which has GPS as well. Max power at full brightness draws a max current of 0.83A, and the battery has a max output current of 2A at 12V.
Yea, I just spliced in these:http://www.kayakfishingsupplies.com/marine-2-pin-connector

One end connects to the DC output cable (I also added in a in-line fuse), and that connector part sticks out of the plano box. Other connector goes directly to the power cabling of the fishfinder.
Looks like this (not exactly mine, but I based mine off of this):
