So before I start hacking on my new transducer to make it fit my PA was wondering if anybody had posted pics or would be willing to post pics of the mod, I did a search but couldn't find a post. I'm fairly certain I know what you guys did but if theres a easier way to go about it that what I want to do.:reeling:

Ok...now why do you need to start hacking up your transducer? Does your PA have a Lowrance Ready slot?

Yup its a 2015 the 50/200 455/800 CHIRP transducer is to big, looks like if I chop the transducer bracket should fit.

I think your right, the guys that have the 50/200 455/800 just chop the bracket and call it good. Do you have the Elite series? It seems most guys that bought the elite series ended up switching over to the HDS.

Without haking it . Bs :the_finger:. I took mine to grinder and took off a half inch of bracket. I grabbed a drill bit that matched up with the old existing hole . One shot , and you are done . Trust me , I was reluctant to destroy another $200 dollar transducer . :svengo: .

I called WM because there was talk a while back that Lowrance was going to make a smaller 50/200 for the Lowrance Ready system but nothing ever came of it, the sales clerk said "you bought the extended 2 years right?, then cut it if it doesn't work bring it back" LOL:cheers1:

Plastic is pretty soft , so taking some material off is not hard to do . Some guys just popped the transducer in at this point , without using any hardware . I opted to run a bolt through it . Try and play with it before cutting or modifying . I know of someone that installed it right out of box . Read of one post with similar case. Good luck .

FYI, you're not officially using CHIRP unless you switch to a chirp specific ducer, like an airmar B150M or TM150M. The HDI 50/200 is not a chirp ducer. There's a bunch of misinfo floating around about this. Lowrance claims any of their ducers work as chirp. Wrong. You need a sweeping frequency ducer to use CHIRP.
I just figured all this out myself. I'm using a HDS-7 gen3.
So the bad news is, If you want your downscan HD and you want true CHIRP sonar, you need to run 2 ducers.

I just put an Elite 7 transducer on my PA17 without modifications, should be plenty of room as long as it is the same mold.
