That is a really good FF for that price make sure it comes wit hthe trans that they have listed as it does also come with the 83/200 with no DSI

It lists 83/200 455/800

83/200 is the normal sonar screenshots you see. With the arches and colors. or black and white. A 455/800 transducer will show you more of a picture of what is going on below you.

This is a shot of both. Regular sonar on the right, DSI or the 455/800 picture on the left.

For saltwater you are better off not getting the DSI because its depth penetration isnt great. HDI units can do both DSI and regular. HDI units are good for saltwater, but I upgraded to HDS recently and it's much better.

thank you for showing me that makes more sense to get the 83/200

The HDI transducer has both types of sonar, so if you can get that for a good price that is the way to go.

Yakkid let me know if you find out more about this deal. Looks pretty good. I'm in the market for my first ff. Does anyone know if this fits a lowrance ready Hobie? And is there any issues with the wires fitting the standard wire caps that come from hobie?
Thanks.

Is this what you're talking about? It's on clearance for $129.99 and regular price of $229.99 but that is very different from the numbers you quoted.

The Mark 4 HDI that I have did not come with the HDI (83/200 & 455/800khz) transducer, only the normal broadband (83/200) transducer. Looks like the HDI transducer is around $100 by itself so this is a good deal if you can verify.

From what I have read and from playing with some fish finders in the store.....normal 2D sonar is good at finding fish and DSI is good at showing you structure
