I'm being lazy. Did not do a search, though I'm sure similar threads have been posted.

Anyhow,I'm gearing up for the summer. Looking for something for around $200 . No frills. Mostly to read depth and find structure. Anything beyond that would be a bonus.
Thanks for any advice.

Should add, I primarily fish LJ and occasionally the bay's.

for clear water fishing- use a 5 gallon home depot and glue a piece of clear plexiglass on the bottom. Submerge the bucket 18" underwater...

Someone has or had a elite 5 for $140. On the for sale section. That is a good unit

Add a second piece of plexiglass and it'll be an hd sonar

Go to the pet store and buy a parakeet and toss him into the bucket and you'll have inexpensive chirp.

If you add a second parakeet you'll have the dual scan feature

Not trying to sound like a dick but I'm buzzed....FF is your eyes on the target u can have the most expensive kayak or raptor avet its not gonna do u any good if u pound your bait on a rock all day. Buy a good ff so u don't buy twice. The lawrace HDS or the dragonfly's chirp are some great ones to have. I myself got a dragonfly and I have caught alot more fish compared to my old ff. If u can't get one of these fish killers the best thing u can do at least for rockgiahing is get a device with GPS so u can mark your spots and eventually u can cut your fishing days from 5 hours down to 2
