I just spooled up braid on an Avet SX and am looking for opinions/preferences on the best knot for tying braid to floro.

Thanks!

I use a bob sands knot for that connection, and a spangler for hooks and such. I have a pdf of it I can email you.

Improved Albright for floro to braid. Super easy I can tie it on the yak all day long.

JC or RP both the same and unbeatable. 2X

I've been using the Alberto knot. Interesting that it's essentially the same as the JC/RP knot (5 turns vs 7 turns). I wonder who stole it from who.

I have been using a modified albright (Alberto) knott. It worked great when using 65lb braid to 50lb flouro then I switched to 40lb Segar pink label and it is thinner and the same knott with 5 turns in each direction let the flouro go, after 10 minutes of pulling super hard to cut through the kelp stringers. I lost my first hook up. So I re-tied and used 7 turns in each direction and had no problems pulling the next 3 yellow out of the same kelp mess.

I've been using the Albright for years, I've never had it break or come undone. I use 65lb spectra to 40lb mono, the mono will always break before the knot

John Collins Knot/RP knot.

Simple, compact, strong. With practice you can tie it easily under pressure too.

These are all great knots. Find the one your good at tying and you feel confident with. Theres no wrong choice.

Ditto. The JC / RP is super easy to tie, strong and really small profile so it doesn't get hung up in the guides. My favorite for braid to fluoro or mono connections.

It appears that what ever name you use RP, John Collins, Modified Albright or Alberto knot, they happen to be the same knot. It is by far the easiest and strongest knot I have found and can be easily tied while on a kayak on the water.

My go to has been the Albright. Its worked very well for me. I enjoy learning new knots and have been working on the fg knot. Its not too easy to tie, for me at least, but its 100% at absolutely the tiniest Braid to fluoro/mono connection. Plenty o tutorials on YouTube. Check it out. Mike

Albright all the way. Long strong and slim and casts through guides well if need be. Can tie in under 30 seconds.

Yes seems to be the same know. The John Collins apparently only uses 5 wraps making it even more compact.

Hey - Thanks to all you guys for the suggestions.
I have been watching Youtube Knot tying videos and following the tying links on all of these and figure I better learn at least 2 of these really well.

All good advice. I really appreciate it.

Nothing but Bob Sands for me now. Too many failures on the double uni when going from braid to fluoro (braid to mono seemed to always be ok with the double uni though).
