Needed to take some pictures of my kayak so I headed to Newport and parked at Paddle Power. After taking the pics for my ad I paddled down to the Coast Gaurd Base stopping here and there to fish, the water was filthy and off color. As I was making a drift the Lifegaurd Boat was passing and he asked if I had caught anything in the dirty water. My answer was no, then not 30 seconds later bendo fought and landed this little spottie

In the next hour I picked up five more one short this one and 3 more over 14 inch spotties

I still find it hard to belive the attraction of a Buttered up Reebs

What is a "Buttered up Reebs"? Newbie question. To me it looks like a yellow leadhead (hair jig??)
Thanks.

Buttered up - lure slathered in Unibutter (http://www.unigoop.com/), a local lure attractant made from sea urchin byproduct (hence the uni)

Reebs - local lure maker Reebs Lures (http://www.reebslures.com/)

The lure you see is a Cotee jighead with a Reebs Razorback, a great combo for the bays. Mike (aka Reebs) makes some great colors to mimic natural bay forage.
