Ok so I was the one who posted yesterday about getting a kayak for my girlfriend. The mini x was a popular opinion on here for her and that's the one the guy at OEX suggested as well as another 10 footer. Since I currently have a 10 footer that I'm too big for, I'm going to give her mine and upgrade to something more comfortable for me.

I found an amazing deal on a Malibu Stealth 12. I am super close to buying this one, but I just wanted some opinions first.

I'm 6 foot 4, but skinny. 200 pounds. Will this be a good choice for me?

I will be doing a lot of lingcod fishing up the coast and will now be joining ya'll in a kayak at La Jolla for yellowtail since money is tight right now and I can't afford to keep heading out on my boat.

Thanks guys.

Look forward to seeing you guys on the water!

I've had an older Stealth 12 for over 4 years and love it as it's very stable. I'm about 5'-10" and 200 pounds and have no problem wih it at all. My buddy who is about 6'-3" and about 280 pounds has one as well and doesn't seem to have any problems with it either.

The only drawback is that because they are so wide, they tend to be a bit sloweer in the water than other brands of paddle kayaks. Ocean Kayaks and Cobras seem to be narrower, less stable but much faster. If speed is not a factor or if you're not going great distances, then the Stealth 12 is great.

I fish mostly the bays, so for me, it's perfect. The other week we ventured out of Dana Point Harbor and went up as far as Salt Creek Beach before turning back. We were going against the current and the wind so it was kind of rough and took some time getting back. But even in the rougher water I felt pretty safe and didn't feel at any time that I was going to flip even when we had 3' high wind waves hitting us from the side.

So I guess that's a pretty good test of it's stability.

I'd say if you can find a x-factor you'll like it.

The X Factor is super stable but with your weight you might like the X13 because it is narrower and paddles faster and is still stable, if you are under 220LBS.

Call the number on the card i sent you. You wont find a better deal and the x factor is built for big boys....
