Launched at 6 am to minimal surf. Turned on my Hobie livewell.. no love. Time to replace the pump. Oh well. Made a bunch of Spanish right away and kept em fresh by pouring water in livewell every few minutes. Tried for greenies for another 30-45 minutes with no luck. Headed out and around 85 feet spotted a large bait ball. Slow trolled right past it and was immediately picked up. Had a nice 10 minute fight and landed this beauty. Back home before 9 am. Gotta love those days!https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/v/t1.0-9/11952999_10101934519698878_2546251339253993834_n.j pg?oh=9e21e311f6a28da049a9e98eaf5f90e5&oe=563BBB80

Another great fish.....nice work Austin. I ended up going out this morning and getting one. Very similar to your experience....home by 10am. Will post a report later.
Also, thanks for reaching out with your #......I will hit ya up next week when the swell drops a bit.

There you go, adapting to the elements and making it work. That's how to get it done.
Same here thanks for reaching out. I should be out there Sunday as long as the swell stays down.
Hope to see you guys out there. I will be launching from my usual spot near the lifeguard tower in front of the power plant around 6:30ish
We might have a big group out there with:

What do you do with all these exquisite fish you catch? How do you like to preserve them for the future? Smoking first then freezing?
Just curious how to extend this goodness for a time when this beautiful summer will be behind us.

I live in CBad...haven't paddled out there yet. Between there and Ponto, there is some great kelp. Count me in but not this Sunday...surf forecast calls for 2' - 4' swells. Maybe I'll watch y'all launch and land...and take good notes. I know my limits...1' - 2' foot at LJ is fine...not 2' - 4' CBad....not yet anyway. Be safe!
