Sunday 9/20/15... What a day. Those of you out there today know what I'm talking about.
The bite was hot! Fish were shallow and it seemed like everyone was within 300 yards of each other all day. And half the group had a fish on the entire time it seemed like!
I landed 5 yellowtail today. After my 3rd, I ran out of bait. I threw the surface iron for a few casts and hooked another one. I released this one which was probably 8-9 pounds to let him get big and strong. After this, I caught a 4 more macks for bait. The first 3 macks got eaten by seals. When I had my last bait out, a whale started breaching like crazy. Pretty much everyone fishing started watching it. I was watching it and eating a snack when my clicker started screaming. This YT tangled in kelp so it took me 30 minutes to get him in.
I'm going to try to keep heading out every weekend, but I'm probably going to release the YT from now on because I have so much meat in my freezer. Plenty to last me the off season.
