The best solution for a scupper crack is to.....

Identify the crack...

prep the area...

Ready the repair materials...

Heat up the repair tool.....

Buy a 6-pack of your favorite craft beer....

Google the phone number for OEX.....

Whip out your credit card......

Buy a brand new hobie pro angler 14....,

Find pvc with an OD that's the ID of your scuppers. Machine as necessary to get a good fit. Seal the ends. Don't use scupper carts anymore, actually you won't have a choice at this point. That's a really though area to weld inside or out.

Came to see me today. I can't fix these type of cracks. I did offer to file a warranty claim and see what Hobie offers, also suggested the pvc sleeve fix

Yeah I went to Andrew and got good insight but I'm just trying to get more ideas and see what's best!
Didn't want to file warranty because I'm not the first owner of the kayak :/

Had two half inch holes inside the scupper holes at about two inches from the bottom Andy at OEX recommended to try it and it worked

that is an idea, cut a dowel to take up most of the space, then duct tape the bottom and squeeze hot glue in around dowel. Plugged up don't see how it could fail on you out on the water.

I like the pvc idea better, may work with hot glue, G Flex epoxy, 5200 or Marine goop.

My opinion is to forget about marine Goop. It doesn't stick to your kayak. It's only good as a gasket sealer. It also seems to absorb water and swell up. I'd use 5200 or something that actually adheres to the plastic.

Check out caulking adhesives at West Marine. They also have fiber wraps and their reps will give good suggestions.

I bought a 2013 PA14 used, and by the time I learned how to operate a kayak the PA developed a crack around the seat foot from me learning to self rescue in my pool. Anyway my point is, I took a few pictures and Andy suggested I try a warranty claim because the dates were within two years, so I filed and Hobie gave me a brand new 2014 with a few upgrades on it that weren't on the 2013s so check the dates etched on the rear end.

you could wrap that with some fiberglass cloth...then soak it with an epoxy or simi playable goop.

another option is wrap the crap out of it with duct tape.

last option, is a few layers of a thin rubber, gusket type or a few wraps of bike tube and then use a few hose clamps.

That's great to hear.

PS - I wonder what the cost is to Hobie, time and materials, to pop out another hull?
