I'm feeling adventurous and wanted to make a kayak fishing bucket list here in SoCal. What are the top ten locations I need to fish in the next year? Just looking for some ideas.
Thanks

What is your experience level with kayak fishing, or kayaking and/or fishing?

What do you want to target? What is your budget?

These adventurous trophies can get costly. Safety first.

Plenty of fishing in and near SD.
The "LJ Slam" is a good place to start; sea bass, yellow tail, big halibut, n thresher shark. And with this el nino who knows what else. The south bay slam; catch ever species of bottom shark and ray while fishing for bone fish. Lol.
Sooo many species n places in baja. 4 of my 5 bucket list species live there. And I knocked snook off the list there.
We're also close to loads of lakes that yield many 10+ lb large mouth bass. And big stripers. Hit the Colorado river for large mouth, small mouth, stripers, n massive cat fish.
High Sierras are super doable trips from SD.
Head north for ocean and river salmon. Fish SF bay for sturgeon.
Aim for a big ling cod n 25 species of rock fish.

Shit man, the clocks ticking. Mike

My experience on a kayak is mainly local kelp beds, calicos, sand bass, barracudas and what not. I want to target yt and other pelagics. I've been fishing Baja for years mainly the pangas and when a friend brings a boat down. I just bought a PA 13 used and want to get it in the water. I'm thinking La Jolla but but I don't want to intrude on anyone's spot. It seems like a tight knit group that fishes fairly regularly out there.
I just want to get my bearings locally them start venturing south to test myself. The appeal of just being able to get out there somewhat quickly and land a couple of fish and get home has me interested. I'm tired of battling with 40 other people on cattle boats tangling lines and losing fish. I guess I'm just looking for some vet to rookie advice. Kayak fishing seems to be blowing up and I'd like to get out there before every yahoo is out there and I can't find a spot. Thanks, I don't mean to be cynical but I've seen it happen all too often, especially with the year we are having.
