I'm strongly considering rigging my Malibu Stealth with a trolling motor. Just wondering if anyone has installed one on their kayak? If so, does a freshwater one have a decent life span if rinsed well after each use. I've found some really good links to customize for kayaks but definately don't want to go through trouble if it's gonna crap out soon after.

I had a Malibu x factor with a trolling motor. Mine was a minkota and I rinsed it after each use.

The motor on a kayak was a pain. The battery is big, heavy and expensive. To be legit you'll need dmv cf #s. I don't miss untangling my braid from the prop.

I tried a Min Kota trolling motor that was not made for saltwater in the ocean and it did not work out well. The part that failed were the screws in the clamp, they rusted and seized to the clamp bracket.

I just recently bought a watersnake T24 SW (saltwater) and went out with it over the weekend. So far it worked great!! Love it... didnt even break a sweat going 3-4 miles. It was for my PA14 tho... but yes you will need to registered.

Watersnake T24, they're not too expensive.
