Bump for a great cause.
Who else is attending? Kayakers were seriously active in keeping areas open to our access during the MLPAs. CCA has the NATIONAL backing to keep more closures from happening.
Yeah, remember those areas that the rich beachfront NIMBYs got closed "to preserve the habitat"? They are having sand berms put in place to protect their homes when the "natural" state of those beaches are just about sand-free.
Want the decision makers influenced by another parade of misguided school kids crying about the loss of coral reefs off of California to get extra credit in their civics class while their teachers are about wetting themselves with pride? Then sit back and do nothing.
A lot of people on this board put in serious time and effort before. Don't think the environuts are sitting back and not planning their next grab.
I will be there. Who else?

You know how it is in Big Business Tony....some Guys will look a gift horse in the mouth and don't appreciate real true Korean workmanship...that's got to be the best looking way to hang laundry to dry that I've ever seen.
I was in the office yesterday and I heard AHI/Promar is selling their whole stock of sabikis to a third world country and investing in the "NEW" Sabiki 500...!

RUMOR has it that Makobob's in Gonzaga will place an order for a dozen units in all sizes available to stock our new tackle store. The Sabiki 500 will be the ONLY sabikis sold there. The TRIGGERS love them!!! Baby spottys and Spanish Macks too. Get them while you can, they will sell out fast. Expect to see these packaged as the Special Baja Edition in assorted Mexican colors.

Well I was always a CCA member in Texas & Louisiana. The "Star Tournament" down south is huge. It has great prizes (trucks, boats, college scholarships). The tournament was for catching tagged fish and big-fish for different species. It was always a no-brainer to register for the tournament. I paid my $50 every year for the chance to win. Hopefully, the CCA of CA can grow to size needed to do the same type of tournament here. In the meantime, I will support the local chapters, have a few tacos & beer, meet other local anglers, buy a few Sabiki 500's, and maybe get a lucky raffle ticket. I definitely encourage all to attend. The future fisheries will only get better with more involvement and influence from the CCA.......See ya Wednesday

"I'd rather be lucky than good"...I think Pat Rilley said that after a Laker Championship...Good job Jorge!!!
What a great success!
Thanks to the all the BWE members that attended...We signed up over 30 new CCA CAL members and we had over 80 people at the meeting.
The Tacos were delicious...the beer was cold...and the "Raffle"/Drawing was Fun!
John, Wayne, and Pat talked about the CCA and our current projects, and in between speakers we gave away lots of cool prizes.
Lots of winners and happy folks at the end of the night.
Thanks for all your support!!!
If the winners of the Brandon Hayward gifts read this, please contact me so I can get your address so we can send the journal out to you.

I attended the CCA meeting last night, joined and even won a prize!
It was very informative, and there are high hopes that as an organization we can do some good for the future of the fishing in California.
There were speeches, raffle, and even a silent auction. Delicious taco and various drinks were available for those who wanted.
Met some old friends and made some new ones too.
1-Saba Slayer is talking shop with other anglers.

2-This was at Rod and Gun club. No club house can be without a well-stocked bar.

*Newly appointed board member, Dick is the owner of the now closed Purefield Tackle store in Culver City.
I won the last prize on the raffle. A Daiwa jigging rod. Two people tried to exchange their prize for mine. No way. George did better with multiple wins.

However, we need more kayakers to join these meetings.

It was a good meeting. From my experience, CCA is a solid organization that really pushes to improving fisheries and habitat. Looking forward to the future of the artificial reef projects. They are really great once they get going. Cool meeting some of you at the meeting. Tight lines to all

Sorry... I couldn't step away from that conversation to take a photo...The CCA State board meeting is next week and Cathy (Chairperson for the Artificial Reef Committee) was asking me to make a presentation on our last artificial reef meeting that the committee had. We have some great long range goals as well as the short term stuff, like the ships currently being prepped to sink in San Diego.
I hope this organization grows and can accomplish some of the wonderful work like that being done in the other CCA states.
Thanks to the kayakers that came out to represent...:you_rock:
Some of them seemed to have a better time than others...:cheers1:

The main takeaway that I have from the meeting was that the initiatives are taken at the state level and directed by the chapters in that state. A Texas chapter has no right to direct the activities of a California chapter. The efforts are defined by those that take part.
I really liked the artificial reef initiative and I started thinking of ways to get more people involved - scout groups, schools, etc. One ship that was turned into a reef was made into a breast cancer monument by painting it pink and having survivors sign it. What a great way to tap into the energy and momentum of another movement that has passionate supporters.
We need more kayakers at these. Sorry I did not introduce myself to others in attendance that I had not met before - Mahigeer & Geauxfish. Next time.
