Based on wave, current and wind forecasts, what size waves are you comfortable launching through with your fishing gear, and at what wave height will you save La Jolla for another day?

Personally, I find under 3' waves and wind at 5-7mph to be enjoyable conditions for La Jolla. This coming Monday looks nice.
More than that and I might head for McCall St or Shelter Island, or I might check out conditions at Tidelands or J St.

I was out at La Jolla once 7 foot waves and 25mph winds. That was fun ...

Waves over 3ft AND under ~8 second intervals I'll usually pass. I'll consider launching thru bigger surf but only if the intervals are ~12+ seconds AND the swell is projected to die down by the time I land. Wind up to 10 knots I'm comfy, over 15 then it starts to get miserable.

Maybe 7ft where you were at, more like 30ft where I was near the bend!:paddleersmilie:

I was waiting for you to chime in. Yes outside they were huge, at least 9 foot swells, that was crazy. Never again.
