The Redondo WSB Growout tanks will be releasing fish in mid March so Hubbs came by this week to do some sampling to check the health of our fish.
They netted about 100 fish...

The fish get anesthetized in a small tub to keep them from being damaged while handling them.

Once knocked out, they are scanned for tags

Measured and Weighed

And a small corner of the tail is clipped and each cut is put in a seperate vial to be tested back at the lab

One of our volunteers records the data and any deformed or sick fish are euthanized.

After all the measurements and data gathering the checked fish are placed in a holding net to revive them

Hopefully the fish will check out OK and we will probably release them March 12th.
I'll post up the info once the date is confirmed, so anyone can come down and participate. These are some big fish with the smallest at about 12"...much larger than the fish we usually release since we had these guys all winter.
OK Scientific Geniuses...lay it on...!
