For long time tournament trial anglers this event will seem to come out of left field but we've been threatening to do it for a couple of years.

To kick off the kayak fishing season we're holding a freshwater trout event at Irvine Lake. This event will not gain you Angler of the Year award points but you will receive special participation points towards some new prizes (such as a 3 day trip on the Q105! More info on that later)

The rest of the season is scheduled and will be announced later this week. We're very excited about having this event with Lake Irvine and they're making it easy for us to have a successful event. Big thanks to WON, also, and Paul Lebowitz for helping set this up. It's going to be a great season!

Sign-ups will be open soon. Sound fun?

Sounds like fun!

I grew up trout fishing, but it was in the river.

I've done very little trout fishing here. Tried it a few times at Miramar Lake from the shore when we moved to SD.

RIGHT ON PLASTIC NAVY!!!

This is the weekend following the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach. woo hoo.

This will be a great tournament to bring the entire family! Fishing license is NOT required.

Irvine Lake does a fantastic job stocking fish...anyone can catch fish, it can be stupid good at times!

FYI - they also allow camping at the lake if anyone is interested?

Q. will there be a ladies & kids division?

Thanks PAL, WON & Plastic Navy. :you_rock:

Rules:

1. By participating in the Kayak Fish Nation and Plastic Navy websites, tournaments or events you must adhere to a code of sportsmanlike conduct. Any angler who violates the rules of the events may be disqualified and banned from future participation in all future PN and KFN events as well as all website interactions. This includes conduct before, during and after events both on and off the water as well as online. Conduct deemed inappropriate may be grounds for disqualification or denial from participation in any events or website activities. Judgments of conduct are at the sole discretion of the tournament directors, assisted by website moderators and host facility owners.

2. This event is a trout-only tournament. A tournament win is based on the total weight of 3 heaviest fish at the final weigh-in at 1pm.

3. Anglers must be in line for weigh-in no later than 1:00pm. 1:01 is too late and will result in disqualification.

4. Any baits are allowed (nightcrawlers, dough, flies, jigs, spoons, etc...)

5. All fishing must be from a kayak, canoe or float tube. No trolling motors or propulsion systems other than paddle, kick or pedal (ie: Hobie kayaks) is allowed. Anglers may not beach their craft to fish from shore.

6. Fish Finders and GPS units are allowed.

7. Tournament hours will be from 7:30am until 1pm. You are responsible for being on time to the final weigh-in.

8. Special Circumstances: The Tournament will be held on the date specified regardless of rain. In case of fog, the start time may be delayed until visibility is safe. In the event of a small craft advisory, gale, storm warning or military closure of the Bay, the Tournament fishing may be cancelled and all prizes will be awarded by drawing. No entry fees will be refunded for any reason.
