This event was amazing last year. A lot of fun on the water and the Ceremony and celebration after was really special, especially hearing Paul speak about James.
As a young dad with two kids of my own, I was really moved by the experience

Can't wait!

I am in the process of rescheduling our September 10th event to September 17th so that I and all who volunteer with HOW will be able to attend and celebrate the life of a true hero James Lebowitz as well as support the great causes that Paul has mentioned below.
It has been proven that we are a great and generous community and I would love to see the same turn out for this event as I saw at the MBC.
See you there!
Mike

Thank you everyone! I'm working on non-profit backing for this year's edition. We'll put the funding to work here in the Southern California community. We are looking at three worthy causes:

1. The National Foundation for Autism Research (http://www.nfar.org/), which runs the NFAR Tech program as well as the local Race for Autism. They offer many supports and grants for autistic kids and their parents.

2. Circle of Friends (http://circleofriends.org/), a national social inclusion program for school children. COF was founded in Los Angeles. It runs like a club, matching high performing students with those with disabilities. No one knows who's who. This tremendous program is beneficial for everyone who participates, but most especially for kids who are dealing with difficulties. All of us need friends.

3. And finally, the cause that so many of you generously supported last year, the James Lebowitz Memorial Cal Poly Pomona University Computer Science Scholarship. In just over 100 days we raised enough money to create a permanent endowment that awards a scholarship every year, in perpetuity, helping young people much like James. My family is working to grow it so it can support more students in the future.

I can't say thank you enough. So thank-you, thank-you, thank-you.

I will be out in my boat this year again, though the boat is much bigger than last year. So if anyone runs into trouble and needs an assist, or wants a photo taken of your fish, or some water, give me a shout on 71. The boat is a Defiance 22' pilot house with a Pelican sticker on each side of the wheel house. I will likely spend some time just making bait so if I have some it will be up for grabs. I may just have some other cold beverages on board as well.
Good luck to everyone entered.

Pro status kayak domestique... Can't ask for much more than that!:cheers1:

Are there any further details on the rules of the tournament? Biggest YT, hali, and cbass... and for biggest fish overall are only these three species considered? I'm assuming sharks/rays are not eligible? Taking bait from a motor boat is not grounds for DQ? Sorry if there's a link to the rules somewhere and I didn't see it.

Chris, thanks for asking for clarification keeping pretty simple rules, Jim offering bait is reminiscent to the Steve Moyer Memorial Tourneys. Taking bait from any boat is allowed..........even if it is live squid!

I did not set up the "other" category this year.

Awarding biggest fish over all as well as biggest yellowtail, white seabass, and halibut. Kids fish for free with an adult, just e mail me their names prior to fishing. andy@oexcalifornia.com
