I prefer inches to centimeters.

Hey uhh...if you're talking about the yellow DFG ruler stickers you should double check them against a tape measure....Just a thought.

I measure against markings on my gaff handle, erring on the side of caution.

Plano board. Works for me.

I used to measure fish by a measuring tape that I had put on my paddle. Problem was that that the numbers started to wear off due to the placement of my hands on the paddle. So now I carry a metal ruler from Bass Pro for tournament use as well as a fabric tape measure that I keep inside my PFD. Not quite as convenient, but functional.

Plano/Frabill bump board or fabric measuring tape.

wifey had a sewing measure tape that I swiped. vinyl/flexible and brass i think.

It is pink, with black easy to read numbers. i hardly use it (nothing to measure) but it has survived so far.

Take into consideration how big was the mackeral? How many could he eat?

Targeted species sharpied on the side of the yak. Float them on the side once they come up spent.

I won't keep anything close and eyeball it in the water so I can release fish in the water without hurting them ie splitting a halibuts tail using wrong nets or desliming fish handling them on deck leading to possible infections. Don't know the truth behind it but less handling is probably less stressful.

If it looks close, it's short.
