Planning to head up to June loop next week 9/15-9/18. Most likely will stay at Silver. Hopefully camp sites will be available. Anyone visited this area lately? How's the fishing and temperature?
Any tips and recommendations will be greatly appreciated. I'm bringing the PA14...a few of us will be there.
Feel free to join us.

Thx
Mike

I was up there a couple of weeks ago and I would suggest bringing a decent size conventional reel to use leadcore line for trolling. All the shops up in that area sell leadcore but it is the must have for any trolling right now. Have fun.

Good luck up there! I was there in July and can't wait to go back. Make sure you bring some crawdad nets. I did ok on June Lake with enough for a boil.

The fish on the other hand didn't want to cooperate on anything other than nightcrawlers.

I'm at Silver Lake...we had at least 50 Dads in each trap...huge big old boys...
Mini lobsters...! Most of the traps were set at 15'
The trout are biting mouse tails and worms...I ran out of live worms so I used some Berkly Gulp worms and they killed it...lots of catch and release looking for a couple of bigger models. Wrapped in bacon and stuffed with veggies...YUM...

My favorite traps from Promar are the 12" x 24" collapsible TR-503.
Set all the traps in the lake...none on Rush Creek.

Jim, can you recommend a site number at the Silver Lake Resort? Have a 24 foot trailer. Is that where you stay?

My favorite sites are next to the lake so I can just roll the yaks up on the beach for the whole week and it's easy to load them up to try some of the other Loop lakes.
16 thru 26 are good sites close to the water...you can go to the USFS website and look at a site map for the campground layout with campsite numbers and a description and photo of the site.
The higher numbered sites don't have as much brush and bush cover so it's hotter and windier at those sites.
