Learn to cook whole fish, whole. On the grill with a tasty tomato-mango cucumber salad. It's yummy, believe me.

Perfect timing. I was just telling my mother in law about the benefits of cooking whole fish and this recipe is so simple yet looks delicious. I like that you incorporated seasonal produce!

Question: When working with other rockfish species(say Boccaccio, reds or even sculpin) is there any other care or prep needed to prepare the fish for the grill?

In the case of sculpin, I'm guessing removing the spines?

Thanks as always for the amazing ways to prepare our catches and see you Sat!

Thanks for yet another great recipe yanni.

last week we ended up having to come in early and had a dozen mackerel left. I marinaded them and grilled them over charcoal later that day and they were delicious!

Got try this one fellas!!

Todd, as far as Sculpin go, as soon as the fish dies, it poison starts to denature. If you cook it, there are absolutely no worries. I've cooked them whole with all their fins and bones and sucked on each one.

By the way, I've been stung on two separate occasions, both on the thumb, by two different sculpins. It felt like I had a lighter flame on my thumb for 4 hours each time. I never said I was the sharpest hook in the tackle box.

Yanni,

Thanks for the fast reply. I love Sculpin and tend to make ceviche out of them.
But I will def. incorporate this recipe into my rockfish routine. Yeah getting stung is no fun. I got hit in the leg once, not as bad as the double stingray hit I got surfing old mans a long time ago, but still far from pleasant!

Thanks again and thank you for the food on sat.:you_rock:
You were in full host mode when I snuck in. But I was able to meet your very kind wife. Thanks again for the food!
