Any fish bleeding from the gills is going to have a high mortality rate....
Hopefully this shark was able to recover but it sucks to have an apex predator like that get injured.

I bet that diver was freaked out though :eek:

That wet suit is ruined, never get rid of the smell, but the shark would have a hard time surviving. Too bad it is legal.

Not sure what in the cage could have caused the injury but Seeing blood coming out the gills is a bad sign. Maybe it was an injury to the mouth. Either way F'n around with sharks is pretty stupid. Mike

Damage probably occurred when the shark was squeezing in thru the cage opening.

HOLY SHIT thats some insane power just from thrashing its tail! Thanks for posting. i've been dreaming of hooking into a 10' mako from my yak but i'll think twice about not cutting my line.

I saw a bit of that on the news this morning but they didn't show the guy getting out of the cage afterwards. That is one lucky SOB to get out of that without getting hurt.
