Fished with my buddy Orca today at the pipe. On the water at 845 due to less than desirable traffic on both of our ends. Gotta make a mental note to leave earlier next time if Dana is our destination of choice. Water temp was 65-66 and the winds picked up around 1100 with periodic calm moments until we got off the water at 1330.

We did fairly well on the bottom critters resulting in a mixed bag of calicos, sand bass, a treefish, flounder, sheephead, and greenies. Squid on a dropper loop was the presentation of choice as I was too lazy to persistently chuck a plastic. I did throw a jig down for nada. We tossed everything back except for the treefish and flounder which made for a tasty meal at Grandmas.

Good job. I wish we would've hit the pipe yesterday. We did nph, and it was slow.

Sorry, no flounder on the left coast. Could be sand dabs with no size or possession limits or halibut with definite size and possession limits. Learning that from a DFW representative could be expensive.

We have several flounder and turbot locally. Theyre usually small and rarely caught. But you really need to know the difference between them and small halibut. Certainly look it up but the easiest way is that halis have and arch or bend in thier lateral line as it gets near the pectoral fin. Mike

100% sure it was not a halibut. I've caught legals and pancakes in the past and their teeth, markings, and body shape are distinctive enough to differentiate.

Tha was a great time Saba. They weren't interested in artificials so it was a bait and wait day. Saw a guy on an Adventure who got a halibut that was just short on a mackerel. I tried a lizardfish for nothing.

Nothing giant on the, but multiple species made it fun. We also had a small barracuda and a small spottie in the Harbor. BTW, I'm sure the flatfish were sole. Definitely not dabs or halibut.
