View Full Version : Mirage drive- clip in bike pedals
Has anyone tried replacing the pedals that come on a mirage drive with bike pedals so you can clip in shoes? Just thought of that while biking today. The shoes are quite hot but comfortable. Thoughts?

At those prices I'd rather buy a new drive.

Concerns:
1. Corrosion
2. Function. It may be challenging "clipping in" while in the surf zone or sloppy conditions. Shoe issues during kayak transport.

What about the baskets instead?

I was just looking at those but the shimano ones are pretty cheap (relatively) and I already had a set around.
I didn't think about corrosion issues... guess pedals aren't designed for saltwater.

Im not sure you would want to be clipped in. I know I would not want to be.

Shimano makes sandals that will take an SPD cleat

They are easy to get out of; it's just a quick twist. Do any cheap exercise bike pedals with the foot strap exist? Those would probably be effective. Maybe rinse and lube with WD40 after every trip? I definitely wouldn't be using XTR SPDs $$$$$$!
