April is the time the weather starts to settle down and the fishing along with it. WSB are just leaving the area and the water is getting warmer. Bass, cabrilla, and snapper are starting to chew. These spring days are the time to see 100 fish a day.
MrPukaShell wants to enjoy paradise again and invites YOU to join this spring trip. Open to all BWE members. Just post up here.

You help keep me hopping around. Tight Lives. BTW damn Va Doctor was going to take my right foot last year, it DID NOT HAPPEN, two days ago he told me the little toe on that foot would be gone this year. GUESS what I told HIM. So I too might need some time to recoup this year, but that's ok I can heal there as well as here.
LIVE LIFE to it's fullest everyday. When YOU are handed lemons, use them. Attitude is 98% of the battle. Everyone plan a vacation this year, even a short weekend, Just tell the boss and DO IT. Tight Lines.

Travel schedual:
We meet at 5:00 AM at Johnny's Shell station in located at 515 N. Magnolia Ave. Just off of the freeway (8) at the exit #67, N. Magnolia Ave, El Cajon.
From there we stay on the freeway (8) to the exit #98, follow about 30 miles to the highway (111) and take right to border crossing at Calexico.
Shell Station to border is about 125 miles.
From there we follow the highway Mex (5) thru Mexicali, follow signs to San Filipe, Puertocitos, Rio Hardy staying on the highway Mex (5) all the way to San Filipe. Another 125 miles.
Going through San Filipe take right at sign to Puertocitos/airport, go about 9 km to sign saying Puertocitos and take a left, DO NOT go to the airport.
From here is another 95 miles to camp.
VADO means dip in road and years ago they could and would take your rear axle out, SLOW DOWN for them. At km 60-65 be very careful. When you reach km 134 you went 100 yards too far. Sign to camp will say Campo Turistico and you take a left. Up until now (except leaving San Filipe) roads are all good at (60) mph unless posted lower and passable by any car. At turn off for camp it is unpaved dirt road, [15-25] mph but bumpy. Camp is about 1/2 mile from main road.
It is suggested lowering your air pressure at turnoff on your first trip, to about (20) psi. There are/is compressor in camp. Follow until you crest hill and go down to beach, restaurant is on your left, in front of restaurant take a left and follow until you have to take a right at trees, then go 100 feet and take a left, 100 feet and Makoland is on the left 50 yards of soft sand, stay on tire tracks at (20) mph to top, park left by garage.
The sand on the beach can be very soft at times.
Let the good time begin.

Good news Sivak and Corvina. I could use some good jokes by Corvina.
Good deal Robert.
Mr. Mako, just let me know what needs to be done.
Side note:
Today I was able to replace the rear shocks on the 4Runner after several attempts in the past.
One of the hardest jobs that I had to do as a licensed mechanic working on cars for many years. Maybe my memory is failing me.
Next is oil and filter change and transmission service. Cooling system may need a flush too.
Then loading the 4Runner and leaving on Saturday at 9:00 PM for Pechanga to spend some time before the 5:00 AM meeting at the Shell.
My wife will be making delicious Persian salad and I will be picking up Persian food on Thursday.
The right knee is feeling ok too for pedal workout.

As for dinner we can decide in camp.
Depending on what time we get to Makoland and what time it is after I setup my camp (tent, cot, etc.), I may be able to serve the Persian dinner at camp.
It would require some preparation, but that way it will as fresh as possible.

Being a local here in the Calexico border, we usually drop off the person who doesn't have the sentri pass right before you cross and they go through the pedestrian lane. It usually is a 10-15 min wait time. Then we just pick them up on the other side of the border. I know it is not the best scenario, but beats having to wait in a three hour back up. These coming weeks folks will be on spring break, so long backups. You can always check Border wait time at (760) 768-2383 or download the BWT app on your phone. If you you go through the east port there is no wait time on the pedestrian crossing, but you do have to walk around 1/4 mile to the gas station across the border. There are no parking signs on the road between the border crossing and the gas station. Do not stop and pick anyone up in that area. It can be a $250 mistake, speaking from experience. I'm informing you about the east port because during this time there is a long backup in the pedestrian line at the west port. Have a safe and fun trip and save some fish for when I go.

Chicken mole Sunday night at the restaurant.
Bob, I just picked up your table saw and will bring with me.
Building my support pipe rack for my tracrac...
Robert, I think your the nicest guy in the world now that you have a non global entry passenger.
This trip should be a blast!
Must be my "Aloha" spirit just got back from a two week stay in Hawaii. He may not think so when I dump him off and have him cross on foot. Kind of like that idea.

Very nice of farreola to post a great tip.
As Robert being a nice guy, it is well kept secret.
I hope the wind cooperates.
Would not mind to test drive the Solo, and maybe an island trip.
Good times here we come.

Arkadash YOU will not be taking MY SOLO to the island, but the Gregor is good to go and holds three anglers. So the island IS within your reach. We may have a day or two of wind, but we can always hunker down and play games, like have a paint party. Tight Lines guy's.

Hey amigos
Don't forget to fill out your online FMM just incase they ask us for them at the border. If you fill it out and print now, it will save you the FMM fee which i think is around $25-$30 now and they will just stamp this printed out FMM and your good to go for 7 days.
https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html
For consistency, here is how I filled mine out. You guys will need to modify your depart dates.

I still have one but if you are coming in to Mexico don't you have to stop to get it stamped? Only the one for 7 days or less is free from my understanding but it still needs to be stamped at the border.

Not sure if I understand your post but if you have purchased a 180 day FMM and it was stamped on a previous trip, you do not need it stamped again if it is still valid. Having it stamped is for folks that purchase the FMM online and then must have it stamped on the first entry to Mexico.

I have mine, but it is almost impossible to read the stamp and the date. I will have to stop and see what they say. I am staying 8 days, so I will have to pay. It is a small part of the trip expense.
On a better note, the Persian food is in the frig. Be sure to bring your appetite.
My wife will be making the Persian salad in the morning.
Leaving LA around 9:00 PM tomorrow.
Meeting Bob at the Shell around 4:30 AM.
In between will try to persuade the lady luck at Pechanga Casino to smile---as well as take a break from driving.
Really looking forward to this trip. A good group of people as usual.
A long report to be posted here later.

Last night sometime after midnight, I received a text from Turkey.
It seems that I have to go to Istanbul as soon as possible.
I am sorry to say that I won’t be able to make it to Baja.
It will be ashamed to waste all the Persian food that I got for the trip.
Does anybody (Robert) live in Los Angeles, so he can come and pick up the food to take?
I was really looking forward to this trip, but sometimes life throws one a curveball to hit.
And I don’t even play baseball!
Have a great time guys. Lift one for me.

I just hope that the !@##$$%^ wind is a no show and the fish are on the chew.
These trips for me involve a lot of time and physical work.
Expense is another issue.

I met one or two Gonzaga veterans while doing a HOW with the veterans at Mission Bay recently. I will probably be camping, kayaking and fishing around Gonzaga from about 4/9-4/14 with a buddy. If there is swell on the Pacific side, we will head to Mujeres later. Anyhow, we have a hobie revo and a malibu. Is there a chance of yellowtail or roosters this early, or will it be mostly cabrilla? Thinking of gear to bring. Any advice or tips are valued! Thanks!
Have a blast on your trip!

Sad thing is there is a youngster trying to learn the ropes and returns a call for every one of his.
