$40? Some are as low as $25

Looks like GoPro is getting some stiff competition.

Anyone find new favorites for themselves?

Nikon is releasing a new model next month on March 3 for $157

That definitely puts them in my price range but......
I am still on the fence whether to buy one.
Pros: Capture the moment, share the moment
Cons: Costs money, One more thing to set up, one more thing to break or contribute to a yard sale.
With my luck, it would either run out of memory or battery about the same time I catch the biggest fish of my life with whales breaching in the background under a triple rainbow.

Anyone have one of these knock offs? The price is right, but if the picture and quality is suspect.... I would rather not waste the money.

However, I think I will wait until the Nikon is out.

At 1/10th the price of a Go Pro, who cares? I have two Go Pro Hero 3+ blacks that I have used for several years. They have their own problem. The video being 1080P is all you need for excellent quality and 4K is more than some people have TV's to appreciate that level of quality. I use the Go Pro remote to turn them on and off, the rest of the time only the wi fi function is on to be able to use the remote. A lot of the knock off's can be controlled the same way from your smart phone. The frickin Yak Attack camera mounts alone cost way more than a couple of those cameras.

When I researched these last year I read lots of reviews and settled on the Xiaomi Yi camera as the best at the time. They basically are one step behind go pro as far as chipset and features. There is a Yi app and even a remote available. I've had no problems with it so far. Just don't buy any aftermarket accessories like a case or mounts, they break. Buy only Yi accessories. I see they have a 4k model out now. Another top rated camera was the SJ4000 ones. I would suggest not wasting your money on the $50 cameras and do a little comparison research.

I record all my videos on the Yi. Video quality is acceptable, but my big gripe is the ridiculous amount of static noise I get while recording. I partially resolved that by taping an area of the camera where the static transmits. As far as the camera goes it's the best bang for your buck. $65 for 1080p? No complaints here.
