I have one of the prototypes at the Sunset Beach location, come on by and test paddle it in the harbor. I will be taking it out in the surf very soon, hope to have some video and pix.

Don't write off the rod storage. I easily got 4 inside. The first was an 8.5 Inshore the last my 9 foot jig stick. You just slide em in guides up, turn over and slide the next. This screw hatch is not likely the only alternative.

Production on these is supposed to be full swing in 2 weeks. The hull is ready, but hardware and rigging is all being worked out. We sold 4 at the show and are taking orders at Sunset and Pt Loma.

Oh, I didn't know the front hatch is like that. Makes for a dry inside if you submarine the nose. Can it still be cut out and open like other models? Is there a X-15 in the works?

Looks like they lost the channels (a good thing). How does the new "tri-keel"
design sound? My last extreme (with channels) gurgled quite a bit...

Look again Dave, the channels are there, they help make the boat more rigid as well as track. This yak tracked very nicely forward and backwards (I like back trolling for halibut......takes me back to my walleye fishing days:D)
Rear view.......turn your monitor on it's side......I am too busy:D

Thanks. I see them now. They look a little different than last year's extreme.
I'll check it out at Fred Hall SD.

Q. How do you mount the motor on the X13?
lol
I like the rod storage. No excuses about trying it out now. Standard stubborn ass excuse, not withstanding.
Just an idea, but you could plug the drain, add a bubbler, and Clay's got a jacuzz. The new pimp fishin style.

I'll trade my fish n'dive for one.... C'mon, straight across. Ok, ok, I'll let you throw in a kayatank and a carbon fiber paddle if you feel too bad about stealing my kayak from me.;)
I really do like that kayak though.

Saw it at the show, the one thing that really stood out to me was the large rectangular dive well behind the seat, alot of options there tank and storage wise. The overall length is nice. Looks like it could be a fast boat. Nice talking to you at the show as well Andy.
Let me know if it passes the "jeans on" bird rock test. lol
Damn that thing looks good!! Here's hoping they follow thru on the threats and make that slightly longer one with the extra back hatch!!! Then I will buy one fo' sho'!!!

Obviously the rods were put in there on dry land standing next to the kayak. How difficult is it on the water, and how tough is it to get to the hatch to flip it back ?
Have they come up with a better hinge or attachment for the hatch?
The boat does look good, but seems to have a few things to work out, as all new kayaks do.

This is not the production model, prototype just to get the design out. The hinge will be recessed and the hatch will be removable. There will also be a spring arm to hold it open. The drain hole will be a threaded plug. There will be a gasket and several options for the hold. Cut out with no bulkhead like on the X and Extreme, cut out with a edging on it to eliminate sharp edges and a couple deck plate type hatch options.

Andy,
It is a very sweet looking ride. Too bad someone doesn't make a small rectangular hatch with a single T-Handle on it, or a couple of latches like a pelican box has. That could possibly be another option for a small hatch in the tankwell or confined area. When I'm over bassin' I'll stop in for a peek. TC&TL,
Perry

You can actually do that, edit the image after you uploaded it in your gallery... and flip it clock wise or CCW...
The logo on the side is freaky though... :)
