Saw it this morning off LJ. At first I thought maybe Mola Mola, then, maybe a shark, but the movement didn't seem right. Now I think maybe it's a whale fluke, but I never saw or heard it blow.
Any Ideas?

Looks like a seal fin to me, probably lounging. I see them laying, basking in the water on their side with only their fin visible.

Possible, but it looked too wide. I never heard anything breathing either. I know that sea critters can hold their breath for a long time, but this didn't take a breath before disappearing, and I only saw one seal later in the day away from that spot.

Mola Mola. That is a pretty common sight this time of year for those. Sea Lions typically will leave it above water longer while they are resting.

Looks like a lobster pot with that quality. If you never saw it again, it was probably a seal, however, I've seen baby mako's doing stuff like that out there before.

All you jokers just want to yak, yak, yak.
I'll be glad when fishing picks up so you'll
Be yakkin on the water and posting fish tales
On BWE.
The only reason I took the video is because
fishin was slooooooooooooooow.
Beautiful day out there though.

Hey Kirk, I met you on the sand this morning I saw about five Mola Mola this morning. What you saw there is a mola mola. Bait was nonexistent today That's one reason fishing was slow.

While we're on the topic, can someone help me with this one? Is it a mushroom? Primitive organism?

Mola. Clearly.
Back in my previous life when I was a skiff guy, we'd be out trolling looking for marlin. Anything out of the ordinary required a detour and look. I've run up on hundreds of molas over the years flopping their goofy dorsal fin back and forth. It was always disappointed that it wasn't a marlin or sword, but molas are just so outer space looking and friendly, that you gotta stop and watch.
Many would slowly move off, but every once in a while a mola would act like a puppy and swim up the boat and eyeball us. Even to this day when I see a mola I think "WTF?" And they eat jellyfish! How weird is that?

Does your video camera auto focus?
It is my iPhone camera. I assumed it is auto focus, but with my skills I was lucky to get a video at all. Last time out it was filming when I thought it was off and visa versa.

I bet you are right. I will try to remember that next time. Now I am embarrassed because I had to put it on Youtube to get it on BWE. So my very first video on Youtube shows that I am a rank ameteur. Oh well, live and learn.
