I hope this link works. If not I will try something else.

I'm going to call it 100 pounds, because the second biggest BSB I caught was estimated at 80. Great fun to catch, and safely returned to the deep after a short rest.

A nice fish. But pretty sure not 100#.

Great catch anyhow! Looks like a great day on the water.

You might be correct on the weight, and I am not one to greatly embelish my fish tales, but I am basing the estimate on the following: When I caught my first BSB, I estimated 50-60 lbs, and the famous Duke Mitchell opined that it was more like 80. I ran with it. Based on that estimate, this fish was definitely larger, so I rounded it to 100. Now that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
And it was a great day on the water!
Thanks for your input.

I'm guessing 3-4 minutes. I circled around and would try to push him forward each pass. They are pretty slick and hard to get ahold of. Grabbing by the fin is near impossible, but i kind of pushed from under his side fins.

I was using live mackerel, targeting halibut.

Closer to point Loma. Long haul there and back, and uphill against the tide both ways in the bay. Glad I have an Outback, and hope the mirage drive doesn't break. I don't know if I could paddle that far, especially after fighting that fish.

you may want to keep a wrench and extras a dry bag. Hobie makes a killer product, but stuff breaks over time, so far: 1 drive chain and 1 mast while on the water. Replaced the drive chain OTW. Had to limp in on the broken fin while hooping and that was no big deal.

30# maybe?

I caught an estimated 150# BSB @ LJ once. I could have put my head in it's mouth. (I have a big head, so I've been told. lol)
