I would like to use a kayak to fly fish from. It is new to me my wife had a big ocean yak. Anyone do it here? Would like to do it for both bays and local lakes. I don’t own anything but fly gear and rods.

I Fly fish in my kayak.
You will need to learn a little Fly casting first.
Most people start out Trout fishing and work there way up to salt water.
For Salt water FF you will need to double haul cast. It just takes a little practice.
For bays a 30 ft Sink tip is the most used fly line.
I Fly fish in the Bays, the surf, Lakes and streams.
A 5 or 6 weight fly rod will get you started.
Where do you live, there are fly fishing clubs that have lessons.
Mark.

a 6wt with sinking line and clouser is really all you need. I like a 250 grain. Clousers and shrimpy type patterns will work.

Check out the FeelFree Lure. It has a large standing deck and great chair. Its very stable but heavy. They just released a pedal drive for it as well. I stand on mine very easily but have only had it in the ocean. Think it would be great on lakes.
