I fished 10am-3:30pm. I was pretty upset with the forecast being around 1/2 of the wind that I was dealing with, seemed 10-15 gusting higher. Add 2.5 hours with out a single rake on my baits. I was committed to sticking it out through the high tide and glad as the switch turned on and baits were not down long between bites. A few missed hookups, couple shorts and a couple 24ish legals released. Finally a good 15 pound fish ready for the gaff and he shook off just out of reach and slowly settled back to the bottom. A little pissed but fired up I kept at at and got another one about the same size. Dinner on the clip I headed in. All the fish biting were really shallow with some close calls with the set waves rolling under me. 5-7 inch sardines from the barge on a #2 hook, 1 oz slider and 25# flouro leader. I also released a really thick Leo that towed me all over. I seem to hook one of those every time out there.

Congrats on sticking it out. It happens a lot that the forecast is way off, sometimes it's not for the better. At least you got dinner and it looks amazing. It must have tasted great, Andy.

Curious if you could give me some insight. what tide did the light switch turn on? Was it after the high tide or before the high tide?

The bite started just before the top (1/2 hour before) of the tide and bit well for about an hour, when I left.

Awesome, thanks for the info, that is a pretty epic bite when you are throwing back multiply 24" butts. That spot sure does revolve around the tide big time and literally turns on like a light switch a couple of years ago they were biting so good that I started throwing the Alabama rig for them it was pretty epic.
