I think the whole idea of the "up for grabs" title is that this is waiting for the first tuna caught from a kayak in 2018 in So Cal

Ha Ha... I jumped the gun and thought someone scored. Realized it when I re-read the post.

With the new Bixpy and two batteries to get out a few miles at trolling speed in the morning then cruise around with the sail when the wind picks up...:cheers1:

Gary would have to be a kayake for that to happen.

San Diego Reader claims El Gato saw I believe a school of BF just off the kelp in LJ last month..

All the word so far is these guys are extremely finicky, and don't want to eat so props to the man who lands one on his yak, & posts the report :luxhello:

Aside from the actual travel to and from the tuna grounds (which is really close right now) a kayak would actually be a benefit once actually there. The fish are extremely boat shy right now. You could slide up on a hobie probably silent enough to free gaff one of them tunas right now.

It's not double cheating when she conveniently forgets to do the rigging the night before and can't peddle. I was exhausted by the time we got to the end of the pipe!

I was out last weekend, made bait and then went ~8 miles straight out from the launch. Water was about 71°F and really green still. Not a lot life, aside from some dolphins, a couple birds and a Mako messing around. Found a couple smaller patties that were dry. I opened up the sail and rode the wind in around 1pm.

Till next time....
