I'm not really too knowledgeable about the shark areas, any idea as to where they usually congregate?:hmmmm2:

Last couple of years that I know, Ts have been coming to LJ every spring - occasionally even earlier. They seem to hang around till the late summer. What you can mostly run into within the paddling distance are the smaller ones - up to 70 / 80 lbs.

I don't think there's a particular spot where they "congregate". They're here for the food, so you may find them wherever you find the bait. That could be anywhere from the kelp, and then further out West... for miles and miles.

Go past the middlle buoy and keep going. Oh grab some macs first. Just west of the middle bouy 1-2 miles is a good zone. Not the only one, but it should work.

Using plugs is great for t-sharks. It's a good idea to remove the middle treble so that it ca't be used against you.

Amen! Where was that advice when I needed it!!:o Having a Thresher and your hand attached to the same Lure can ruin your day!:argh:

That happened to me once with a spotty. It sucked. The thought of it happening with a big rapala and a T makes me want to puke.

Most anglers greatest fear with Tsharks is the tail, specifically with a lure attached to it. At least we don't use BOM's on the kayak. Nothing like a pound of lead and hooks swinging on the end of a 12' club  .

Some guys also replace all the treble hooks on plugs with single hooks, that way a mouth hook is more likely, plus you get a different fight. Not just snag and drag.

Someone else told me this...
Worst case scenario, T shark with a plug in the tail slaps you, the plug is now stuck to you too, you can't hang on and the T swims away, with you attached and getting dragged behind.

Just use common sense and be careful.
