Whenever I take drive my Toyota Highlander with my Cobra Fish N Dive strapped to the luggage rack on top, a very loud and annoying buzzing sound is generated by wind resistance when driving on a highway. I am wondering if others have experienced this and found a way to minimize this annoyance.

Thanks,

Paul

It may help to shorten the straps to keep from flapping in the wind.

Maybe turn the kayak opposite how you have it now, if at all possible.

Some pool noodle on the cross members?

Just some of my ideas.

A picture hear may help with more suggestions.

The trick is to allow some twists in the straps then it won't catch the wind.........like a reed instrument:D

Exactly - I put at least two to three twists on each side of the tie down so it does not buzz...

Another vote for: put twists in the straps where they bridge between the kayak and the rails/bars.

I have had the humming strap actually cut into my OB. It never made it all the way through but it has cut curls of plastic like an electric fillet knife. Put the twist as mentioned above.

Thank you for your replies. I will try putting twists in the straps.
