Soooo, last time out I found that my live well was not filling up with water. Thought it was the battery, bought a new one, still not filling up. Must be the pump. Not quite sure how to trouble shoot or what to look for besides eel grass/debris clogging it up which is not the case.

Any advice?

does it run at all when you turn it on?

Is it rotating the right direction? Perhaps the polarity of the battery is backwards

A multimeter is a great tool to have and you can grab one for cheap at harbor freight, especially with their coupon.

With the multimeter you can check the motor and battery to see if they are good.

Is it a hobie? If so, check the switch.

Do you have an inline fuse? If so, check the fuse.

There are only a few things that can fail, so just go through each item and then check signal flow and you'll find it.

Lots of resources online to help you with how to use a multimeter correctly.

what kind of pump and what kind of tank. Switch could be bad.

Hobie livewell switches are prone to failure over time. I'd disconnect battery and cut out the switch and see if it works then, Switches run $15

Yup. I've cut and just twist one side on when I'm ready. Salt water eats through it all eventually.

Same.
My old DIY bait tank had a very nice waterproof toggle switch housed in the pelican case and this never failed, but on my hobie after three bad switches, I just bypassed the switch and went straight to the battery. Problem solved.

There's only one good place for that switch, the trash!

Agree on cutting out the switch. Use a shrink tube connector or a wire nut filled with dielectric grease. If you really like having a switch, you could get a livewell v2 switch and mount it on the side of your tank in the highest flattest section you can find. The V2 switch is far superior.

I have been using this waterproof switch with no issues so far.
