Non kayak. Went out offshore looking for tuna on my 15’ skiff since it was going to be so flat Saturday. Struck out on the tuna and my bait tank died, so armed with only 3 swimbaits and a krocodile I headed to LJ. Got there and found scattered birds diving. The calico and short white seabass were wide open in 30-45’ depth around kelp. They were coming clear out of the water chasing bait. It was really cool to see. They kept tearing the plastic apart and I’d just cut the swimbait down and keep using. Wind was perfect and water temp was 75 to 76. Probably caught and released 30-40 fish but kept this jumbo that was bleeding from the gills and exhausted from the fight.

Swore it was a small yellow. pulled drag and wrapped me in the kelp. I was lucky to get it out.

I was out there in that - coming in from a productive morning with the calico's at least.
It was fun watching my son throw a lake lure from his trout pole and getting "HUGE" mackerel on every cast :). He hooked into a 15" calico and i couldn't stop laughing at his excitement.
Great times.

you might already know this but you can fix a lot of plastics by melting them back together with a lighter

Idk how but I’ve never heard using a lighter to melt back together. Thanks for the info, should save me a few bucks I’m the future.

Try a product called "Mend-it" to repair plastics...you can find it on the HookUp Baits website...the stuff works great to repair all your plastic lures...
