No not really. It's an acquired taste.
You have to be a little crazy to do it.

I used to love fishing for Carp in the local lakes when I grew up in LA.

That water looks pretty clear, are you sight fishing them?

Yeah it's sight fishing. People don't realize the LA river, before most of it was channelized into concrete was a freestone stream that had it's own run of steelhead. There's also some bass in there too but I've never gotten one. It's pretty dirty and there are homeless encampments all along it but the fish are there and the water's clear.
