So I just spent 2 back-to-back 9-hour days on the water and now my ass is freaking NUMB. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent cushion? I have a Hobie Passport 12 with the stock seat. Assuming something inflatable would be better so I'm not sitting on a wet dish sponge out there. Looked into the Hobie ones and they seem a little pricey for what you get, but if they work well it might be worth it. Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated!

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. In their garden section they usually sell a 1.5" thick(approx) sealed foam pad for kneeling on when working in the garden.
I put mine under the yak seat. Works great.

I have used a piece of the puzzle-type flooring pieces. You know, the piece-together fatigue mats you can get at big lots out harbor freight. Cut into a pac man shape under your seat makes a world of difference

I got this about a year ago because I was having the same sore ass after long trips. Only 20.00 and dries out easily in the sun and the liner is washable. Its a nice firm foam, fits the seat bottom perfect and im happy with it

Something very similar to this came with the seat for my prowler...
Because I’m in a wetsuit when I’m in that one, I’m not too worried about sitting in water... seems pretty amazing so far

I have something similar to this that works well

Self inflating, never goes flat

This has worked really well for me. For whatever reason keeping my butt happy keeps the back pain away.

It's additional safety gear as well. :)

if you google "inflatable kayak seat cushion" you may find an option that works for you. I have one inflatable crack of dawn seat (couldn't find it on the website but saw similar ones with a quick google search), that has some type of vinyl exterior so it doesn't adsorb water, and a foam interior as well as what im assuming are some air bladders inside. It can be inflated/deflated through an orifice in the bottom of the seat, however, because there is foam in it, it never goes to completely 0 cushion, so even if you were to penetrate the bladders with a hook or something like that, it still offers plenty of comfort over the traditional style seat.

Additionally it ties onto the existing seat straps at the rear, so i sometimes flip it up so that I can have the cushioning against my lower back rather than under my butt.

Not sure how this would work on your passport, but I did manage to rig up a stadium seat that I bought at Costcos to fit my Malibu when I had it. I used PVC to build a base for it. It was stable, comfortable, and kept me dry.
