Newport Beach 7/12 - invite and report

Hi guys,
Visiting from Vegas once again. Heading out from the life guard beach 6:30 am. Probably hit kelp beds. If it's too bumpy, probably make bait then try for halibut. All welcome. Lmk so I can look out for you. Dine pa14

Got a late start but got to fish the whole day from 745 to about 5pm. Headed out to the kelp beds armed with a bag of shrimp, but no takers. alot of bait stealers like lil wrasse or sculpins. There seemed to be alot of bait in the water and alot of pressure from boaters. Headed in to try the bay, throwing a chatter bait and a kastmaster, nada. Headed back out to the mouth to have some fun catching mackeral. trolled a small one in the bay before heading back in.
