Hi,

Long time lurker first time thread starter.

Picked up a Vibe Sea Ghost recently and have taken it out several times from both Mother’s Beach and Naples.

But lately it’s been a challenge with all the beach goers and car traffic.

I’m still relatively new so I’m looking for an area that’s less crowded.

Thanks in advance!

Try 72nd street jetty at long beach. Gotta drag your kayak over the sand onto the beach but it's not far and the halibut fishing right next to the beach isn't bad.

How much does it cost to park there?

Last I heard it’s $12?

Thank you! I’ve parked there before but didn’t thinking about launching there.

I used to launch at Horny Corner in Los Alamitos Bay but the boat traffic outside of the bay can be atrocious on the weekends.

I mostly fish at Cabrillo Beach now. The weekends are still busy in the afternoons but the fishing is much better in my opinion. There are three launch options. The boat ramp and inside beach for inside the harbor or you can go through Angel's gate to get outside but it is a bit of paddle.

The outside beach is also available but requires going through usually small surf but worth a weather check before you head out. A south swell can get big here.

I mostly target bass but I have also caught halibut, WSB, sheephead, opaleye, and various rock fish.

I fish LB a lot in summer and like to park/launch from the sailing center/gondola getaway on Ocean Blvd. Usually plenty of parking (including free spaces) if you can get there early on a weekday (before 7am). From there you can hit the spots in Alamitos Bay or head down the channel to the outer harbor, breakwall or open ocean to the south.

It is a sand launch but short schlep and there's a FW hose for cleanup. The place will be a zoo when you get back with cars waiting for your parking place.

72nd st. lot is a quicker paddle to the outer harbor spots though.
