Monday we had rain forcasted all day and by 8:00 am I made the call to run to SGR as I thought the crowd would be minimal.

There were about 8 cars at "the spot" and I had zero luck for the first 45 minutes of the morning. I went back to where I started and found a little area I had overlooked.

I tried my trusty 3.5" swim bait for 8-10 cast por nada. Then I threw the ole trusty Rooster-Tail and bam a 13" on the first cast.

I put 5 fish on the board real quick then it started to come down hard. Everyone left or went into the trees and I stayed at my spot. For the next 90 minutes I was rewarded with nice fish after fish catching a total of 30 fish and keeping around 18.

Fish are much bigger then last week and pulling them up from 12' off the water on the bank put a hurtin on my elbow by days end.

Soaked, cold, worn out with a smile on my face I went home to enjoy a Modelo and some fresh fish...

Go get em my friends....

They don't freeze well so we only keep what we will eat that evening.

Limit is 15 here in Texas..

Lake Nacimiento in San Luis Obispo County has them!

When I lived in Texas, (Holy Land) we use to catch a lot of those sandies in the spring. I always dipped in mustard before the flour or cornmeal. Reduces the strong fishiness and doesn't overpower.
