There are a lot of VHF radios on the market but I’m not sure which one is best for me.

I’m looking to do more off shore fishing and I’m looking for recommendations on which VHF radios everyone prefers.

I have the HX210 also. I have had mine less than a year, and have already had to have it replaced with the West Marine Warranty. Whichever one you buy, get a warranty at West Marine, it's worth it in the long run.

One of the most important aspects of a handheld VHF for me is the battery life. If something goes wrong, it's an important piece of mind factor. Although the radios in this blog have the most important waterproof rating, they fall short on battery life.

The Uniden MHS75 advertises up to 10 hr battery life. The Cobra MR HH 350 does not mention it. When a product does not mention it, it's probably not very good. A search on google revealed that it has a 1000mah battery.

For comparison, the Standard Horizon HX210 has a 1800mah battery and advertises a battery life of up to 20hrs.

The best advice I can give is to get one that has the speaker mic option.
