Not sure if this has been covered on here but are there any socal based kayak fishing groups/clubs in socal area? I am in the Temecula area and fish the San Diego areas both fresh water and salt. I dont mind fishing solo but it would be fun to make some new angling friends.

I am aware of HOW but I do not have a military background

Thanks

Here's an upcoming event in April in San Diego where you can either enter or just hang out and meet other like minded anglers. Maybe you'll find a group you can hookup with. There are a couple of other events coming up in SD like the Bay Bass Tourney too.

That looks awesome. I am getting Lasik eye surgery the day before, but I am going to have to look out for more events like that!

If you're on Facebook, there are a number of groups available that are loose "clubs". Fresh n Salty Kayak Anglers, San Diego Kayak Anglers, are a couple of good starting points.

Thanks for the link to the USAngling tournament. I had no idea this was coming up. I've never been in a tournament, sounds fun and a good opportunity to meet up with other local kayak fisherman. Looking forward to it!

I live in Menifee and usually fish at Dana Point, Oceanside and San Diego Bay. You'd be welcome to join in sometime. Next outing is in Mission Bay this weekend. I'm fishing in the Spotty Bowl tournament. You don't have to join that but you can certainly fish the bay. PM me.

I've been active in the sport for about 15 years and for the most part most groups aren't supper supportive. They are very clicky and tend to not be open to new folks no matter how much they say they are publicly. The exception is the Fresh N Salty group; you can find them on facebook. They are an unoffical "club" but the most active group you'll find and what sets them apart is how they welcome new people and how willing they are with sharing the water with you. There isnt the "my secret spot" mentality in that group.
