Since I am a biology teacher several of my fishing buddies have asked me about their "wormy" fish, so I thought I would post this for those of you who were also wondering about it. Halibut tend to be a "wormy" fish and sooner or later you will come upon these little critters in or on your fish. Actually, with summer coming on, you may also find these parasites in rockfishes, bass species, etc. (although they are not as common or obvious as in flatfishes). After discovering these unwanted guest, many fisherman will dispose of their catch and miss their fish taco night. Usually this is not necessary, as with proper cleaning, cooking, and in some cases, freezing, your fish is still very edible.
Read the following and eat more fish!

Yep, have heard about those things, had never seen them until just recently, Nasty looking. Was staring at my catch (Hali) when I was in Cabrillo, at first it looked like water trickling down off fish, looked a little closer and noticed the parasites under its skin moving around. Tripped me out
