Hi all,
By now, I hope everyone has put the dates into your calendar and planned to attend one or more of the MLPA public workshops coming to your town.
It starts tomorrow.
We need to show up and comment by writing in the form provided at the meeting. All of us. It would be a travesty if the majority/all of the written comments received in your area come from the kick-human-off-the-ocean crowd, giving the MLPA people and the RSG reps the impression that most of the public wants closures and more closures right in your favorite fishing areas.
This will be reflected in the third round closure maps, to the detriment of fishermen.
I have typed up the points I thought would be relevant for spearos/fishermen to write for the public comments.
However, knowing that how easy it is to troll and plagiarize and to minimize the other side's ability to counter our points, I'm keeping these semi-confidential. Part of it is some of my writing has been stolen by an enviro RSG rep before, and I don't want to help this gal when she should be doing her job for her constituents.
However, I want to share these with bona fide spearos and fishermen.
If you would like a copy of the discussion points I wrote so you have some idea of what another person would write (really, I want you to have it as a resource and of course, please add your own thoughts), PM me and I will send it to you.
Please include your email address in the PM. The writing points are too long for a single PM.
I'm also sending it in advance to a list of people that you can get it from (whom I know personally). If you don't hear from me, please PM Holy Mackerel, Billy V, Tyler Durden, and they can send it to you. Don't wait for me, if you don't hear from me in response to your PM request. Go to one of the other guys as I may be running around today.
Thanks and hope to see you at the workshops. We are approaching the end--keep it up gang. Again, PM me or one of these people above if you want the speaking/comment points.
