cant help you there, I can barely stop from putting holes all in me from my hooks, an inflatable would last me 20 mins. You can buy a brand new malibu x-factor in hunter green tho and store it in my garage? :D
Check out the Malibu Mini-X. Its 9' long and weighs about 40lbs. No more hassle than a long surfboard and easy to carry up stairs etc.

I agree with Kenny. Float tubes are great for lakes and ponds. You can't cover a lot of water quickly but they don't take up much space in the closet. I even have gently used one I would be willing to sell, complete with fins.
If interested, please PM me.

I have a Hobie Mirage Sport. That thing is 9'7". I live in apartment and I put it against the wall in the kitchen. Does not take much room.
There is the porta boat / fold a boat thing you may want to check out!

don't think that would help him. i have a portabote and it's a great unit, does everything the mfgr claims, had it out to abt 8 miles and in up to 8' swells off Mexico, but not much more compact than a 12' yak. guess you could store it behind the couch if needed.
