Met Spyder at the launch and we were on the water around 5:30am. We went to our Yellowtail spot and made bait. Spanish mac and not the kind I was looking for. We fished that area for a while and saw no signs of predators.

We decided to head to our second spot for some bass action. No Yellowtail love but the calico's were fun. The water was warm and very clear. My meter said 30 feet of water and you could make out the bottom when looking down at the kelp forrest.

Back at the launch around 11am. The tide was up and the sand was soft. What a cluster f%^$k at the launch. Vehicles getting stuck, tourists getting in the way. Summer weekends in LJ...... gotta love it. Some nice scenery on the beach though.

Caught bass, smoked a good stoagie, paddled 7 miles total and hung out with the wingman. Another awesome day in SD.

Now I'm off to the frickin MLPA meeting to make sure I can still have days like this. I hope to see a bunch of you there.

nice going on the kelp critters! I saved about 50 greenbacks the past few weeks knowing that they would be scarce with warmer h2o. I rig them like ballyhoo and w/o back bone. Slow troll them and wait for a hungry yellow!

Your big flattie on the avatar is from LJ. You can't catch YT in the bay.

I had six trips to LJ before my 1st YT. Time on the water bro.

That's the problem with fishing the bay. You get spoiled on numbers of fish. Your 1st yak tail will come soon enough.
