Went out around 6:00am. Headed straight for the kelp. It was cloudy but when the sun peeked out them clouds for a while, the bait started poping out of the water. So I cast the Rapala past the bait and reeled in slow and got hit. The first three fish were caught on the Rapala and the last two on a reverse droper loop with live bait. All fish were C&R and my friend got mad for releasing the 14" Calico. OH WELL. Let the fish fight another day. It felt good being out their again.

WSB, Tomcod (queenfish), Corbina, Corvina, Yellowfin Croaker and Spotfin Croaker are all part of the croaker family and will make the croaking noise.

That last one's hard to tell due to the angle of the shot, but it looks like it could be a yellowfin croaker to me.

A yellowfin croaker has, well, yellow fins. It also has a barbel on the chin. A corbina is generally darker and longer and also has a barbel on the chin.

As steamroll said, it is a Tomcod or white croaker. They have little to no fight in them. And they do croak like the other croakers.

I like the smelt and kelpfish on the lure!
