Thanks Billy, very good advice!
Its been said, flying doesn't scare me, its the crashing that scares me and kills me.
Big waves don't scare me, its the flipping and freezing water and getting hypothermic is what scares me and kills me.
Dont do it you will surely perish!

Oolie,
I think that Josh may be messing with you a bit. The La Jolla launch can get that big and JMo is correct when he says that you don't want to launch in those conditions. According to the video feed from the launch area, things are quite manageable at the moment, however.
Any time you see three or more lines of waves breaking, or the size of the breaking waves are much higher than two feet, you would be wise to stay on the beach. The surf is supposed to increase dramatically later today and Thursday and then get back to normal.
According to the Scripps forecast, Saturday is supposed to be relatively calm. I hope to try to get out on Saturday. Maybe I will see you on the water.
