Finally got the car rigged for the kayak and headed down to the big bay with njovin. Launch out of Shelter Island about 7am and headed straight across to North Island.

Started by throwing the trusty 1/2 oz football head/white curl tail combo and on the 3rd cast picked up this guy -

njovin threw a croc for this -

Drop-shotted a white Senko and got hammered by my fist Bass of the year -

We then paddled out to Tom Hamms for 2 Lizard fish and called it a day around 10:30.

Beautiful San Diego day, all fish/crustaceans were released, home for BBQ and game...almost a perfect day had the Chargers won.

Nice day out there! Who'da thunk it'd be raining a few hours later!
BTW, can anyone ID that little fish that bit the crocadile?
Sometimes in LJ I will fill up a sabiki with those.
Fearless little guys!

Nice manits shrimp too!
Thanks for the good report,

Nice report, but take some care with those mantis shrimp. If they get lined up on you right you will be needing stiches. Mike

I used a steal clamp that kept that beast a good 6 inches from my hand. I've heard the horror stories of the hammer claw those things posess and wasn't about to chance it.

I did not know we had Mantis Shrimp around here. Are they common? In all my years of diving, I have never seen one in San Diego.

Those Mantis Shrimp are delicious.

I had them in Thailand served in Curry, It was the first time I saw one up close.
The Chef cornered it with a plastic laundry basket and hauled it off into the kitchen. I was curious about the instrument he used, but found out why soon after.

They will hurt you bad if they strike at you.

I'm just glad I can contribute.

If you see a big Mexican guy in that blue Prowler, say "what's up", name's Chris.
