A buddy of mine caught this down in Mexico. We went back and forth on the possibilities of ID. He say's the flesh was orange/red like a salmon so we settled on that. Any ideas?

My guess is a silver salmon. I caught one off LJ years ago. I also have caught the same fish in the Eel river near Eureka. They are tasty.

It's a chupacabra.

You sure it is not a Sierra? Those are common in Mexico and look similar to a trout. It's hard to tell with the images posted. Steelheads usually are more colorful although I have only caught them in fresh water.

Not a sierra or steelhead. Looks like a silver salmon. Pretty rare catch down there but they do pop up every once in a while.

Heard that a 15 lbs salmon was caught on one of the seaforth boats going out of mission bay about 15 years ago. The fish was caught before they exited the jetty, still in the bay, by a guy who was trolling for sheets and giggles. Pretty rare but definatly plausible. With the storm we had it would be pretty easy for a fish to get side tracked. Look at the Tuna in IB.

It's called putting in the time which you have definitely done that and it shows with your success. :notworthy: There's no argument on who owns south of the border, nor, north of it. I simply wanted clarification on what other BWE's figured this catch would be. Seems as if most are settling on Silver Salmon.
